Jawbreaker is still the only band I've followed out on the road, and I can remember explicitly where I was when I bought each of their records (Whack and Blite is awesome, BTW). Meeting your heroes can be fraught, but they were incredibly down to Earth, and seemed genuinely grateful to see us pop up at each show.

The Riot Fest concert is one of the best I've seen- couldn't tell you how many people were there, but everyone knew the words to every song and the energy was like 1000 suns. Amazing feeling. Pretty sure no concert will ever top it.

Dear You is/was a hard record to love, but with the benefit of time, I think it's actually pretty solid. "Accident Prone" is good, but so too are "Save Your Generation," "Fireman," and "Sluttering (May 4th)."

We all thought it was a crime against humanity to sign with a major, but what band wouldn't want that? That anyone felt that way is more an indictment against the weird orthodoxy of the early 90s than anything else. Maybe we were worried that the same people shoving us into lockers would take our music too. I dunno...

And FWIW, people sang along and cheered as loudly for Dear You songs at Riot Fest as they did for anything else.

Great article about one of the best bands ever.
